Right, my little girl has eczema really bad. It started all of a sudden and we were given creams up on creams to try but nothing is working. I can't work it out what has caused it but I used to use childs farm then this started and I started using something I thought was more moisturising on it. The hv also told me to stop using childs farm etc. But Iv now been reading how good it is for eczema and I'm thinking I may try it? Has anyone got any experience with this?
I'll post pics aswell. The first are 20th Dec when it started and the bad ones are now

My son's looked exactly like this a few weeks back and I kid you not after using the baby aveeno for eczema he has his baby soft skin back, I could cry ... I just use plain water absolutely pain, no shampoos and just use aveeno baby cream for eczema and the FACE BALM I also smoother the balm all over his body before bed. You can also purchase the woombie for 6-9 months off of Amazon if baby scratches and causes flare ups at night .. that's if baby is 6-9 or that can just be a tip for the future :) I also got a baby nail file them ones you put on your thumb to prevent scratches and a soft soft soft baby brush off eBay to brush off the dry skin , hope this helps X

I think you really need to try sticking with the creams, they only work if you use them really regularly, putting them on once won't do anything at all, the aim is to keep the skin constantly moisturised.

It's definitely worth changing your washing powder again too.

I think the problem is you're expecting immediate results and not sticking with the treatments and changes you need to make. If you do what you've always done then nothing is ever going to change. Give the creams and a new washing powder a proper trial.

I wouldn’t bathe a child with eczema daily.
Stop using anything (liquids) with MI. It’s a massive allergen. In lots of liquid detergents and conditioners.
Only cotton next to skin.
Steroids as prescribed.
LOADS and LOADS of a good emollient VERY often. When my DD was bad it could be every half an hour. Unfortunately the same emollient won’t work for everyone. I use diprobase. The kids use Dermol. My mum uses Doublebase. It’s trial and error to find one that works.

Just an update, I have been using bepanthen all over her body in the morning and evening and childs farm throughout the day and her skin looks so much better!! She is still scratching but only when she's naked, not throughout the day. Apparently using bepanthen can't be a long term thing (again the hv told me this, but she also told me not to use that or childs farm and yet they are the only things that have worked!!) I am still bathing her everyday even tho I do think surely u shouldn't! And still using aptamil pepti 1 and fairy and comfort. She is so much better. Tho I have noticed, when she has a poo explosion and it goes up her back, her back is like red raw, don't know if this is sensitive skin or normal

Ok - my DS has this when he was a baby. Using an emollient did not work for us - point blanc. Emollients do not moisturise they simply sit on top of the skin, smothering it. It has petroleum in it and that caused horrible nasty red flare ups. Just awful. Cotton clothing / natural chemical free washing - both for the skin and the clothes. On the eczema itself we used Earth Friendly Baby - Red clover nappy cream - it worked! Ps. Hydrocortisone is thinning so use it very sparingly. Consider a soy based formula too.

Looks better
Honestly specialist told me to bath everyday which I thought was strange but everything else she recommended worked so I did that too
The weather is better and that helps
