Removing old nit casings from hair

Can anyone advise a method of loosening nit casings so they'll drop out/gently brush out?

My DD (age 7) had nits for the first time about 2 months ago. I treated her and the rest of the family, washed bedding etc etc, and repeated this the week after. All went to plan. But - I can see the empty white nit casings in her hair, I've googled and they look different to dandruff. She's headsore (runs in the family so I do sympathise) and any brushing is a drama hence painstakingly nit-combing these casings out just isn't an option. I'm confident there are no nits left.

Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance x

Conditioner and combing is the only way.. sorry.

If there are nit casings, then your child still has nits, sorry,

There is nothing for it but to comb every other day with a Nitty Gritty, and lots of conditioner. Bribe as necessary but it’s the only thing that really works. I also give hair a run over with hair straighteners to fry any little bugger that survive combing.

When DC had nits we did nitty gritty every other day for a fortnight, then once every 3 days until a month had passed. No sign of them since, but we are religious about hair being tied up properly at school.

Picking them out with your fingernails is the best (albeit most tedious) way. The comb doesn't catch them all. Section off the hair into inch wide pieces and work your way around the head.

Get a nitty gritty gets rid of bits/eggs & casings

If you can see the white cases, she most certainly still has nits! Treat & use conditioner, comb and hairstraighteners on a regular basis. Did the trick for my DD.

Your child still has nits.

You need to use a nit comb.

Believeitornot · 03/02/2019 12:31

Use a nit comb. This can be done without touching the scalp if you’re careful.

Thanks all. I really thought we'd zapped the little buggers!!
I thought the casings were just discarded from where the /new lice had been born?? And those new lice had been zapped with the treatment.

Arghhhh
