Head lice

My daughter has brought a letter home from school saying someone in her class has head lice. To be honest I don't rigourously check her hair as my eyes aren't the best and I'm afraid I wouldn't see the lice anyway. Is it ok just to go ahead and put headlice treatment on her anyway? If I just did it one time. I do use a lice repellent shampoo and spray but just in case?

I think it depends on the treatment... one of the non-drug ‘suffocating’ ones I don’t see an issue as they can’t develop resistance. I don’t think you can really replace combing through though... presumably you have glasses? You could treat her today and one could hop on in a few days time...

Get a Nitty Gritty comb and comb through conditioner. You may or may not see them but if they're there it'll get rid of them. No need for exposure to toxic (and increasingly ineffective chemicals)

Even with the best eyesight it can be easy to miss headlice. As pp said, conditioner and a nit comb. After each pass, wipe it off onto a tissue and you'll see the little buggers. Using chemicals unnecessarily isn't a good idea.
