Any Dermatologists? Teen Staph Rash

My daughter has had skin issues for the last few years, she’s 14. I began with eczema, which we’ve managed to control, then nasty spots and boils over her bottom, armpits and pubic area. We were referred to a dermatologist and it was found to be a staph rash, for which she was prescribed Mupirocin up her nose to get rid of colonisation and Rifampacin and another antibiotic to clear it. This worked brilliantly with Dermol/Hibiscrub and cleared it well. My husband and I also underwent treatment and I am meticulous about laundry. However, the rash came back. She then developed cystic acne on her face and after trying non invasive, gentle treatments, which didn’t work, took Roaccutane for 4 months, which cleared her face and body well. Two months after finished the course, she is now covered in spots over her breasts, stomach, bottom and legs. I can only imagine it’s because the Roaccutane dried her skin, making it easier for Staph to enter, but she had NO issues during the course itself. She now taking Flucloxacillin, which have calmed the problem, but far from cured it. Please help, it’s really affecting her self esteem. Our dermatologist has admitted he’s baffled, as she’s an average sized, healthy, non-diabetic teen. She’s also had blood tests for underlying issues, but they’ve all been clear. She has a healthy diet, but is not very physically active. She also drinks only water and fruit juices, no fizzy drinks at all.

Had the doc/dermatologist mentioned bleach baths at all? It's not bleach as such but Milton sterilizing solution, similar to swimming pool. Can be very good for skin infections. The issue is the bacteria is generally on most people's skin but doesn't cause a problem in healthy skin . My DD has skin condition which causes extremely dry skin and very prone to infection. Hope this helps

I'd be getting her an old-fashioned sulphur and cream of tartar ointment made up at a compounding chemist and use sulfur soap too. (Bit smelly though!!!) Maybe just for use at night time, paying attention to clean daily towels, face cloths, etc.... it's a total bastard to get rid of, poor kid!

Thanks both. Yes, forgot to mention, she regularly takes Milton bleach baths, they help, but never seem to cure. We haven’t tried sulphur and cream of tartar ointment, so will give that a go. She does have clean towels and face cloths every day, also changes clothes every day and night clothes every other day. I remember having something similar at her age, but don’t recall it lasting as long or being quite as nasty.

Btw - not underestimating that what I have suggested stinks. Also, if that is hard to get, Selsun Gold shampoo to wash in, leave on body for as long as possible. Again, it will stink because of the sulphur. (Think egg farts.) I would use it at night so the worst is gone by morning. (Maybe find a nice body spray for the morning)
