Gastritis 5yo - any tips?

DD has been suffering for 2 weeks with abdo pain and sporadic vomiting episodes.

We've been in and out of GPs and today spent the day in the Paed dept. And they suspect a very inflamed tummy (Gastritis) and prescribed gaviscon for a week (which DD HATES)

Anyone had any experience of this? Or have any tips? Especially what foods to try/avoid?

She's so weak, tired, pale and has been in a lot of pain. It's horrible to see and not be able to help.

Hot water bottle for pain, avoid caffeine/acidic/dairy, use rehydration sachets after bouts of sickness etc. Salty dry plain foods. Fresh lime juice with a tea spoon of sugar and a tiny pinch of salt if she is appearing dehydrated.

Yes, need food/ meal tips too. Everything she eats/likes seems to either be acidic or dairy-based Confused

She's also coughing quite a bit now. Not sure if it's related? 🤔

Does anyone know how long Gastritis typically lasts? We are going into week 3 now and I missed a dose of DD's Gaviscon and the pain came right back Sad

I really thought it had gone away...

Feed BRAT diet until she can tolerate food again. Banana, rice (plain white). Apple sauce and toast. Keep dairy out of diet for a few weeks as this causes tummy upset after a bug usually. Make sure she stays hydrated.

Saw the GP today and we've been prescribed Omeprazole for a month! I'm concerned that we are not addressing/looking for the root cause of the Gastritis, but merely treating the symptoms, but I know they are reluctant to give Antibiotics and blood tests for DD. But I'm worried. Still.
