DD 2 weeks and still in pain

Will try to keep this brief, but I'm worried and feeling useless.

DD (5) has been complaining of tummy ache (just above her belly button) since 3rd Jan. she was sick twice on 4th (once in the morning very little then once at 3pm). Since then she's had the tummy pain on and off.

Last week she was at school, and apart from a little bit off her food and tired, and tummy ache in the evening, she wasn't too bad. We assumed it was the aftermath of a tummy bug...

But then yesterday she was in terrible pain after lunch (midday) and really uncomfortable/ squirming around, etc. We got home at 5pm and she was very sick 🤢 She obviously felt relieved, but then the pain quickly came back.

We saw the out-of-hours GP yesterday morning (who tested for UTI (neg) and then again last night at 8pm (who suspected Gastritis or something similar, or perhaps a Paed referral). We went to usual GP this am who was very unconcerned and said probably a 'viral' thing or infection and basically "bye!"

DD in pain again this pm and I just don't know what to do for her. calpol doesn't seem to help. She's had bits of food but not much. She's miserable, tired and very pale. No temp, no diarrhea.

HELP!! Sad

Im thinking possible appendix?

If your concerned I would take her to hospital to get her checked out

As stupid as this may sound, give her a peppermint to suck if you have one.
I’ve had something similar before twice and it’s really uncomfortable. It’s as though something gets inflamed or acid. It may just settle her. Or if you have any antacid med or tablets. Just read label first as she’s only 5.

Also, when I had it, aside from the sore area and sickness, I felt really tired and ‘off’. A friend suggested I try a packet soup. It was s particular one but easily available. Got mine in Sainsbury’s. It’s a chicken noodle soup in a sachet/packet. Just add water. It’s a really thin watery soup so not heavy on the stomach.
It helped me perk up tremendously, almost instantly in fact.
I was so relieved.
I am clueless on the anatomy apart from the obvious, but it’s ibviously a bug effecting the upper tum, intestinal tract Confused.
I hope this helps your daughter.

@ChristmasSnow @Ozziewozzie thanks for your replies.

We ended up in A&E today after another night of pain and 2x vomiting episodes first thing this morning.

They reckoned Gastritis and have given us gaviscon (although DD HATES the flavour and is now really worried about taking it SadConfused). Ironically after throwing up this morning and a day of very little food/drink, she seems much brighter. So we've come home. Fingers crossed this is an end to it all.

May post another thread about Gastritis and ask for some tips...

Oh bless her heart. It can be really painful.it was a very experienced gp who advised me to suck a peppermint. I got dpearmints as it was all available and it massively helped. Even ‘tums’ sweet tasting will help her as they are antacids. As soon as I had one with gasterointeritis, I felt so relieved. I hope she feels better soon. Avoid milk, as although alkaline, Tummy produces more acid to break the alkaline down apparently.

Xxx

Constipation?
Give her plenty of actimel type drink and probiotics
