On Wednesday my two year old started to tell me her tongue was sore, but it didn't seem to bother her too much, by Thursday she was saying it more and began drooling excessively took her to docs on who didn't seem overly concerned and suggested thrush, prescribed daktarin which we've been giving her, tonight she's in absolute agony, the drooling is worse, she doesn't want to close her mouth or let us touch it, I can't see anything though, her tongue is perhaps a bit red but that's it. She's in such a lot of distress though. Managed to get ibuprofen in and she's fallen asleep on the couch. Does anyone have any ideas? It seems worse than just thrush to me.
She's not eating but still drinking.

Any spots anywhere on her body ? Could be the start of hand foot mouth or something like Scarlet fever..... is it doing the rounds where you live?
Hopefully it is Thrush & she's not eating because of her sore tongue rather than brewing a more systemic illness.

How is she today? Liquid anbesol numbs the mouth-just be careful that it's no so numb that she bites her tongue.

Hope you've got to the bottom of it and she's better in time for Christmas
