Hi,

My little one has been teething for weeks but still no teeth. He has teethers during the day and Anbesol if i think he needs it but seems ok/I can distract him. For the last 2 night's he's been up for 3 hours in middle of night or waking up every hour. (I put his dummy in but he takes it out and bites it or drops it then cries because it's not in. He has powders before bed and Anbesol. My question is when woukd you try Calpol? I'm not sure if He is waking because of a leap etc or if its his teeth waking him. I don't want to give it to him unless he needs it but how do you know if he needs it?

Give it to him! It won't harm him and the poor thing sounds like he's in a lot of pain. I wouldn't lie there at night suffering without relief and don't expect my baby to.

Hope he's feeling better soon - teething is horrible Thanks

Baby is clearly unhappy so I would give him some calpol. If he doesn't need it it doesn't really matter but if it makes him feel better then has to be worth a try. Hope he's happier soon.

How old?
I would have tried everything first. Teething powder etc, cuddle to sleep, milk then probably three hours later given medicine lol

Give it one evening and see if it helps - dose in evening, and again in night if wakes. Won't do any harm and if it makes a difference you can carry on.

Is he looking flushed in cheeks? That would be a sign of potential calpol to me (still is in my older children).

First sign of a hot red patch on the cheek, plus whimpering and upset is when we give it. I never want to over medicate, but I also think if I was in pain, I'd want the pain killers!

Thanks last night I gave it him (He's 5 months) he's had powders and Anbesol and after 3 hours of cuddles and fighting me/sleep we both ended up in tears.
I think it worked he slept better but still woke for dummy several times but was v easy to settle which he hasn't been. Will see how tonight goes x

Please don't feel bad about about giving him calpol. It's better he is soothed with pain relief than left to suffer. It's not going to harm him if it's only when needed.

Don't feel bad!
The only thing that works for teething here is ibuprofen - and I always give with a cup f milk first.
