Wheezing and temperature following flu nasal spray vaccine.

Just wondering if this is due to the vaccine or just a coincidence...
My dd (33months) had her flu nasal spray vaccine nearly 4 days ago. She was absolutely fine for the first 24 hours, but then developed a temperature and fatigue. She perked up after Calpol though and slept well. On the second day she awoke warm but in good spirits. I gave her Calpol after breakie and she was fine for a few hours, but then developed a nasty cough, raised temperature and was a bit clingy. She napped quite a bit for the rest of the day, refused tea, but again slept well that night, albeit with a frequent cough. Day three and she was hot, generally listless with an intermittent cough and raised temperature (although this was reduced by Calpol or Nurofen when we could get it in her).
Called gp this morning and they said as it was a live virus it's probably just her body's way of coping, but should I push to see someone? It's been 4days now and she seems to be so uncomfortable, barely chatting, and panting and wheezing. Sorry it's longer winded but I'm a worried first timer! Thanks in advance!x

If she is panting, wheezing and not really interacting then she needs to see a medical professional as soon as possible. Time her breaths. If she has rapid breathing combined with sucking in at the neck and chest recession you should take to her to A&E. They always say day 4 and 5 is always worse with respiratory viruses such as bronchiolitis as an example. Hope she feels better soon x

Panting and wheezing is A&E...

Not wait and see

The vaccine can cause a low-grade version of the virus (not nearly as bad as the real thing would be) - these are mainly the effects of her immune system learning how to defeat the virus. However yes as pp said, wheezing should never be taken lightly. If she can't breathe properly she needs monitoring and possibly oxygen do don't be reluctant to seek medical attention.

She won't necessarily have troublesome reactions to future vaccinations - most use a dead virus but the flu vaccine has to be live.
