Recurrent water infections in DD

DD, 4, suffers terribly with water infections. She gets one every 6 weeks. We have just recently seen the urology consultant who has said she needs to do a bladder function/capacity test. Anyone else's DC done one of these? What happened next? The doctor suggested there would be a long term course of antibiotics and some medication to help with bladder function?! But he was quite vague so would love to hear people's experiences

Are you sure she doesn’t have worms? They can lead to reoccurring Utis in children

No she hasn't got worms, they've checked, thanks for the suggestion though! She's had an ultrasound but nothing since. We've got an appointment for January next

Are urine cultures being done each time your daughter has an infection? What do they grow? I know some children have transient issues whereby they have lower tract symptoms. but don’t necessarily have established infections.
Our daughter gets regular infections too, but she has an underlying immune issue which predisposes her to this. She usually grows something significant, and has had a few upper tract infections too.
Urodynamic studies are done to check that the bladder is filling and voiding normally, and that there is no retention of urine. It’s simply a case of drinking lots, then when they get the urge to pee, they do it in a toilet that measures flow, volume etc. The staff are usually lovely. Hope it all goes well!
