Keeping antibiotics cool

Ferrisbuellersdayoff · 17/11/2018 10:32

My son takes a lot of liquid antibiotics (usually a ten day course at least once a month, sometimes more). We currently take a food coolbag with us if we're out for the day, but it's a bit big for one little bottle and I was wondering if there might be something smaller that could keep it cold for a full day.

I'm particularly keen to find something we can take on a flight next month.

Thanks for reading. Grateful for any pointers.

You can immerse it in cold water inside a flask. Or depending on the age of the child, ask for tablets instead! Mine all took tablets from 2 as the medication they were on only came in tablet form...

Just put a small ice pack in a freezer bag with the medicine.

On a flight, ask cabin crew to pop it in a fridge.

Thanks, handmade. Annoyingly, I can't see him taking tablets any time soon. I'll have a look at flasks.

CherryPavlova, I'm after something more robust than a freezer bag, as we'll be carrying it around for several days on holiday with limited access to fridges (though I think we might be able to ask to use freezers at night).

They usually come in plastic bottles so don’t need to be too robust. What are you doing with it? A decent freezer bag with ice pack in your handbag/changing bag would be fine, surely?

We've had a lot of leaks in the past. I'd prefer a cool bag to a freezer bag as they are often a bit flimsy and not very insulating.
