My 2 year old dd has been vomiting for nearly 2 weeks now. It's not everyday, and is generally in the evening. There's been times where it's one day in between vomits. She's just vomited again and previously to this it was Tuesday night.

She complains of stomach cramps and will then have a big vomit. Shes fine in between with no temperature.

The drs have done a urine sample which they say is fine, and think it's just a bug. We took her to the drs again last night but no clearer answers. Just getting a bit concerned now.

My son was a bit older, but he had similar vomitting episodes and it turned out he was constipated. He was still going to the toilet but it was quite runny and eating normally. There was a blockage and the runny bits were seeping past it. Have they felt her tummy?

screamer1 · 17/11/2018 07:49

Thanks for relying @KitKatCHA Yeah they did and said it felt nice and soft. It's really weird. I've wracked my brains to think of any foods she's been having, but there's no one thing in common.

CAn bugs act like this? Seems odd to me.

Could you keep a food diary and see if there's a link to anything she's eating?

mossyroundhill · 17/11/2018 07:52

Could be an ingredient and writing it down might help connect the dots

WishfulSprouts · 17/11/2018 07:56

Have they done a stool sample at all if not push for one.
Have you been abroad or been to any farms/fresh water activity in last 8 weeks op?

screamer1 · 17/11/2018 07:57

That's a good idea @mossyroundhill can allergies or intolerances suddenly just start? Don't feel like there's anything new that we've introduced.

We went to some wetlands a couple of weeks ago. It was that evening that she started to feel poorly. She did drop a you and start chewing on I without me seeing (obviously i took it off her straight away and washed her mouth).

That should read "dropped a toy"

Sometimes following a bug children develop a short term intolerance to dairy based products. Have a Google. Maybe worth a thought?

WishfulSprouts · 17/11/2018 08:04

I wouldn’t think it’s water related then op normally starts 2 days after exposure. I’d be pushing for a stool test Monday if still poorly.

screamer1 · 17/11/2018 08:05

Ok thank you @WishfulSprouts I'll do that

Yes intolerance and allergies can juat start. It is very rare for allergies to start affer first contact.

Temporary lactose intolerance (dairy) is common after sickness and diahorrea.

screamer1 · 17/11/2018 08:14

Thank you @Jackshouse

My DS has come down with the same thing this week. One incident of vomiting in the night on Sunday, seemed to feel unwell in the afternoon/evening on Sunday, and same on Monday, didn't eat much etc. Seemed fine on Tuesday but woke up to more sick on Wednesday morning from the night (didn't wake up again). Was again fine on Wednesday and Thursday, still not eating a great deal but seemed fine in himself so sent him to nursery on Friday but was sent home at lunch time for having 3 lose poos. He was fine for the rest of the day and seems fine this morning too. He has no temp and I'm clueless as to what has caused it.

Bramblebeep · 17/11/2018 11:06

I think bugs can sometimes act like this.

DD had one a few years ago. Vomiting, day or two ok the sick again. It went on for about two weeks in which time we saw GP twice.

It did just clear up on it's on so I do think it was a bug.

Definitely back to GP if concerned though. Have they checked urine sample?

screamer1 · 17/11/2018 11:23

Thanks everyone. Back at ooh gp because shes obviously in pain, but suspect they will just send us home with bug diagnosis again

WishfulSprouts · 17/11/2018 19:40

What did ooh say op?

screamer1 · 17/11/2018 19:52

We we've been admitted and they've taken bloods. 🙁

Does she have regular bowel movements op? I do think its related to that by the sounds of your other posts even though gp said tummy felt soft they might have missed something.

screamer1 · 17/11/2018 20:12

Her bowel movements are all over the place. Sometimes pebbles, yesterday big and pale and really stinky. And anythign in between. Sorry if this is tmi but she passed this just now whilst doin two tiny pebble poos. Other than that she's been her normally happy self all day (apart from vomit this morning)

Apologies for typos. Typing on phone one handed whilst trying to get her to sleep

My ds gets this and it's because he gets a blockage although the docs have always said his tummy feels OK, we ended up with lactulose and movicol and that sorted him really fast. Now we just keep on top of it.

Jackshouse · 17/11/2018 23:21

Show it to the nurses. Has she had banana recently.

Fingers cross you have a good night x

screamer1 · 17/11/2018 23:43

Saw the paediatrician earlier they do think it might be related to constipation. Hopefully we'll be discharged tomorrow and back home with movicol. Thanks all.
