hi,
my oldest DD refuses to eat veg, fruit, meat, sauces, etc... this been dragging on for about 4,5 years now. her food is very very tasteless, boring without color !! today i made simple carrot and mini pasta soup as soon i told her to eat it she started to cry and she set herself to panic mode with shaking, after 1 spoon in her mouth she vomited all back out. recently we took her for blood test i was prepared that results may not be good, but what blood test shows is very worrying. her red cells started to shrink and blood is fading in red color. also, her iron level could be compare to newborn baby, is that low !! is hard to admit but yes, my DD is very very anemic. we believe that whatever is inside her head is psychological cause. anyone experience this kind of thing ?? thanks for reading.

Are you in the U.K.? Have you been referred to a dietician?
There are lots and lots of threads on here about children who refuse to eat, have a search and see what you can find. One thing they all have in common is never forcing a refuser to eat.
What will she eat? Does she eat other things at other people’s houses or nursery through peer pressure?

Food therapy and iron supplements X

bumblebee39 · 15/11/2018 19:05

If she'll drink milk or juice some can be fortified with iron. Likewise breakfast cereal. What will she eat? Start by giving her foods she thinks are "safe" and gradually try and increase by one food every time every week or so.

Supplements and also what about calorie drinks. I think you probably need to get to the root of the issue. My dd has coeliac and stopped eating as food caused her pain. Now diagnosed she still has a very restricted diet. I’d be asking for a referral to a dietian and looking at food therapy courses.

My eldest is like this, he’s recently been diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder
What foods will she eat OP?

gumkacik · 15/11/2018 21:00

thanks for reply,

well what she eats is: spaghetti (no cheese no sauce - she called it clean pasta), bread (no jam no butter sometimes cheese or sometimes croissant), pizza margarita only, french fries and if we lucky she will eat nuggets (fish or chicken - even this we called is * twinko). she drink milk, water and 1 small juice pd. her sweets and sugary things are very limited. basically constant battle with her food.

no she does not eat in other people houses, i think she is shy. we talked to her, we punished her, her teachers talked to her and nothing helps. currently she is taking syrup for iron for 2 months and then new blood test to run.

i think she may have Sensory Processing problem. i almost forget, she is terrify if something is dirty on her or around her. she will NEVER touch it.

* DonaldDucksTowel where did u do it (somewhere in UK)?? did u need referral from GP??

thank u

Yes we’re in the UK, DS was actually referred by his school but a GP can do it too
I would go and explain to them the things you’ve said here and it’s likely they’ll refer her for an assessment
Flowers it is so stressful when they won’t eat isn’t it

Hi sounds like my dd who is 8 - she has an aversion to anything healthy. She’ll only eat bread, turkey dinosaurs, chips, cereal. I’ve not had anything diagnosed but she says she’s afraid to eat anything new. As a result she’s v constipated and so is spoiling herself. I’m afraid I don’t have the answers as we sent my dd to a dietician and they said was getting iron etc from fortified bread and cereal 🤔. Just to let you know I’m thinking of taking mine to the GP to see if I can get a formal assessment
