Sick toddler - overnight care

My two year old has been diagnosed with a chest infection. She usually sleeps through the night and did last night as well despite being a bit poorly (temp and breathing fast).
Should I be waking up to check her in the night? The doctor said I should check regularly in case she develops a rash. She usually wakes up if I go into her room in the night. Should I just sleep in there? Obviously if she was up ill and upset then I'd stay up to care for her, but it seems a bit daft if she's sleeping ok?
What do other people do with sick LOs?

I do check on my ds when poorly even if sleeping okay, mostly to keep an eye on his temp, make sure it's not spiking and give meds to reduce if needed. If having breathing difficulties I would sleep in the room with him yes or have him in my room to make sure it wasn't becoming severe. I certainly wouldn't be stripping him to check for a rash in the middle of the night if he's sleeping well so you can only really keep an eye out for that in the day time I'd imagine.

My daughter had a couple of nasty chest infections at the same age. One turned into a nasty bout of pneumonia, very quickly.

Most do not - so please don’t overly worry - but I would sleep in with her just in case.

Hope she feels better soon.

Ds is just getting over a chest infection which had him admitted to hospital. We Co sleep so I was able to monitor his breathing when it became problematic and get him rushed in. I would definitely sleep in the same room or at least check often through the night. They change so quickly.

Hope your dd is feeling better soon, poor soul.

Thanks all.

She's on antibiotics and on the mend. I didn't sleep in there but did check regularly in the night. Last time she was ill we were co-sleeping so I didn't know what the protocol was with separate rooms! I'm pretty sure I would have woken her if I tried to sleep in there too, I barely got away with checking her.
