When to worry about a stammer?

Dd is 3.11 (4 next month). Never had any concerns around her speech until the summer holidays when she developed a stammer seemingly overnight.

It's worse when she's tired or really excited. We are trying to ignore and not draw attention to it but it's not getting any better.

When should I see the dr about it? I only ask because I know it can be a developmental thing, but how do you know if it's not?

Hi! SaLT in training here. Stammers can be a developmental thing, especially at that age. I would say that if it doesn't go away in a couple of months or if it starts bothering her or if she starts avoiding to speak altogether, to get a referral for SaLT. Ask for a SaLT who uses the Lidcombe Programme, it's very good for kids under 6.
