9 yr old - nocturnal diarrhea

Hi there, looking for advice/reassurance:
My dd had a stomach bug last week. It was bad on Saturday, fine Sunday, bad again Monday and then since then, for the most part she’s been ok. The lingering problem is that 3 times since then she’s had diarrhea at night which has resulted in her soiling her bed. She hasn’t got any other symptoms. During the day she seems fine, but intermittently we have these nighttime incidents.

Does anyone have any experience of this? I think I might phone the GP in the morning, but just hoped for advice during my insomnia! Thanks

Poor kid, must be mortifying for her. If you are following all the usual d&v advice, she will be over it soon. If not, get on to GP.
(At 9 I think she could have Imodium.)

I might check out Imodium for her. Since 2:30 she’s been getting up every half an hour because she’s paranoid she’s done it again. Sent her back to bed with 2 pairs of pants on in the hope it’ll reassure her. We haven’t really been sticking to usual d and v advice because we thought she was over it..! Last diarrhea before tonight was Friday night.

I had this we the norovirus a few years ago. Was fine ish in the day but up all night with diarrhoea intermittently. Took about a week to resolve.

I would just let it pass on its own without immodium, lots of fluid and 48 hours clear before venturing out. Hope she feels better soon.

The GP is probably a good next step.

It sounds like a D&V bug, there a loads going round at the moment. it horrible but I would just let it pass. Drink fluid little and often, rest and eat what she can.

No need to see the GP and spread it around the surgery. Theres nothing they can do.

Hot wash and bleach at home so you all don't catch it. Hope she feels better soon.
