Stubborn verrucas!

DD (11) has several verrucas on each foot. A couple of them are really painful and beginning to affect her ability to take part in sports.

We've tried treating with Bazuka and Verrugon, we followed all the instructions on the packets and they haven't shifted.

I've suggested the freezing treatments to DD but she is very reluctant. I phoned to get a GP appointment this morning in the hopes that they might be able to give some advice but was told that the NHS in my area does not treat verrucas.

Does anyone have any other suggestions before I try to persuade her on the freezing?

I've heard about duct tape and bananas but have also heard mixed reviews on their effectiveness!

My dd2 had a similar problem. We got rid of them in the end by taping cotton wool
pads soaked in cider vinegar to her feet when she went to bed each night. It took about a month, although a couple of verrucas had disappeared within a fortnight.

Why not freeze off ? It just involves holding a cold qtip against the verruca for a minute.

Thebewilderbeest · 02/10/2018 09:57

She doesn't want me to freeze them off because a friend has told her that it's agonising... Hmm

My DS had about 17 verrucas. We tried everything - Bazuka, duct tape, apple cider, banana, freezing...The only thing that worked was applying Salactol (from eBay) each night. Paint on with cotton bud. Let dry. Leave uncovered but done just before sleep so no walking it off.

Next night, lightly file skin/affected areas. Reapply Salactol.

Did this each night for 2 months and they’re all gone.

Have you tried the Scholl plasters? I’ve just got rid of one on my toe with them.

Bazuka extra strength.

Dd has several on each foot. I treated them regularly throughout the Summer holidays & they have finally gone Smile

We've had great success with nail varnish. Top up a layer every day, after about 10 days it will be gone.

Cider vinegar

i treated my DD with duct tape, wash and dry foot - really dry! and cut a square of duct tape, put it on area and leave it till it falls off, failing that one of the OTC creams but use them daily and to the letter, apply, leave 24 hours, file off with nail file, re-apply.

We also visited a podiatrist who suggested extra strength bazuka.

He told us that until the body recognises the virus they will not go Wink

Thanks for all the suggestions!

My DD is 8 and had her 2nd cryo today. The first time wasn't too bad but she found this one painful. Nothing a cake and a cuddle couldn't fix though.

I had a couple of verrucas in my late teens and after trying literally every pharmacy and homeopathic remedy going, I ended up taking a pair of nail clippers and literally cutting them out of my feet. It did not hurt (unless I clipped non-infected skin) and it got rid of them permanently.

ButtermilkBiscuits · 02/10/2018 19:23

Whoops sorry I misread and thought it said your DD was 19! Confused
Not sure an 11 year old could try my method. Ignore me!

Peaspleaselouise · 05/10/2018 18:50

I’m not sure if you can have it at her age, but I had a verruca for 10+ years that nothing could shift.

Two sessions of electrolysis later which cost less than £50 in total and it vanished and has stayed gone. Wish I’d done it years ago!
