Question about 10month old started eye rolling

Hi, I have a girl who is 10 months old, recently she's not been too well, she’s not long started nursery.

In the past couple of weeks she started with tonsillitis and was put on anti-biotics, after a few days we noticed she was getting a lot of yellow gunk in her eyes, we took her back the gp they said she’s probably got conjunctivitis, so she’s not got anti-biotic drops for that, which seems to be on the way to clearing up.

I have had a cough over the last couple of weeks as well and she now has developed a cough herself in the last 2/3 days.

In the last 2 days though we have noticed that she is sometimes rolling her eyes back and then they seem to go a bit in and then back to normal again, she sometimes is also throwing herself back as well when she does it, but not always.

Would this just be something that’s happening because she’s not been well recently and she’s just tired etc.. or should it be something to be worried about?

Regards

James

anyone at all? also her eyes are blue and since having having conjunctivitis the blue of her eyes looks a little washed out to normal.

I have no experience but all I can say is if this was my child I would go back to the gp and explain what is happening and ask them to check it out. Its certainly not a normal symptom of conjunctivitis nor tonsillitis.

The white of the eye looking (temporarily) different after conjunctivitis seems reasonable, but the eye rolling and throwing herself back - the way you describe that does sound unusual.
I'd go back to the Dr and see what they think.

Definitely take her back to the doctors for a second opinion.
Does she have a high temperature?

Is it a seizure? Are her eyes rolling
Up and down or side to side?

When you say arching back does anything on this video look familiar?

I wouldn’t risk it and would take her bank ASAP.
Try and keep a note of how often it happens, anything that might have triggered it etc.

My much older boy has absence seizures. That was my first thought when i saw the title about eye rolling. The youtube link above is a good resource. Back to gp.

Not to scare you, but just to reiterate everyone else who said get it checked.

My dd started doing the same. I took her to the gp for something else and mentioned it, they immediately got us a referral and it turned out she was Having mini fits.
They were nothing to worry about and she only ended up having a hand full before they stopped all together. The consultant who we saw said only to panic if it lasted more than a few seconds and didn't immediately come back to conscious.

Aparently fits are quite common in young children and they happen mostly if the child has been run down.

Yes I’d be thinking it was a seizure. Get her back to the GP

My little girl went through a phase of doing this; she has had a few febrile convulsions in her life so I was super worried. However, gradually, she just stopped and now doesn’t do it at all- I think she was just interested in the sensation.
We didn’t take her to the doctor over it but it defo wouldn’t do any harm if you are worried.
