My ds has been ill since last night. He had a bit of a cough before bed but through the night started vomiting (we thought at first due to cough bringing it up but since realised it isn't every time he vomits ) He doesn't have a raised temperature. The cough has got worse and he is at times having coughing fits. He is frantically rubbing his ears, has a runny nose and a red cheek which I thought was just teething. Is it just a double whammy of a bug and teething? I did give him scrambled egg for dinner last night so possibly a reaction to that? Can teething alone cause the vomiting? I think I'll try and get a docs appointment tomorrow. I'm worried about dehydration as he has barely kept anything down for 24 hours now and is so miserable!

  • Give them only sips of water or rehydration fluids (from your pharmacist) for the first two hours.
  • Gradually increase the amount of clear fluids or rehydration fluids they have every two hours.
  • Build up to a bland diet after eight hours (for example, avoid fatty or spicy foods).
  • If the condition gets worse or other symptoms develop, call NHS Direct.
  • If you are still worried, call NHS Direct.

from the NHS website about vomiting children. many parents say that their children find it easier to keep down flat sprite, as it doesn't upset the ph of the stomach. all the best

If you are breast feeding keep offering feeds frequently, perhaps stop solids until you see the GP.
