What is this on DDs leg?

It doesn't hurt her. Been there nearly a week. It's not a scratch or anything. Looks like a mark if her knickers were too tight if you know what I mean, but it's been there ages without fading at all? She hasn't hurt herself there, unless it happened at nursery, but they're pretty good at reporting accidents. Plus I'm not sure what sort of accident could cause this? Really bizarre. Tried to google but can't find anything. Does anybody know, or should I take her to the pharmacy/ GP?

Can you take a pic without shadow?

Solasum · 06/09/2018 20:32

Stretch mark?

Pollydidntputthekettleon · 06/09/2018 20:32

It looks like a stretch mark!

GlamGiraffe · 06/09/2018 20:35

I wonder if she has sat on something and it's Dom kind of pinch bruise. ie a pinch from between where two tables join or some type or sit on play toy? Might not have realised as it might be superficial and not really painful. Hard to see in the image.

MilkAndSevenSugars · 06/09/2018 20:37

Will take a better picture in the morning. It is exactly like a stretch mark, but she's 3! Surely 3yo's don't get one very dark stretch mark with no others? She is not overweight or especially tall.

Maybe a pinch, but for it not to have faded in a week? It's so weird.

That does look like a stretch mark OP! Is that the only one on her?

RatRolyPoly · 06/09/2018 20:42

Stretch marks often start out red and then fade to silver. I wouldn't have imagined one on a 3 year old, but that is what it looks like!

MilkAndSevenSugars · 06/09/2018 20:45

I actually forgot to say that in my OP, but that's what I said to my DM - it looks exactly like a stretch mark. But yes, only one on her. No growth spurts, as I said no weight problem. So surely it couldn't be?

MilkAndSevenSugars · 06/09/2018 20:51

Says on google stretch marks only really happen on kids when they're overweight Shock maybe I just can't see it. Might post a pic with her face covered if I can find one

Does she wear pull ups or nappies at night? My niece had marks like this from her nappy - my dsis thought someone at nursery was scratching her as it looked just like it!

Jammiebammie · 06/09/2018 20:57

Could it be a friction burn, from going down a slide perhaps?

MilkAndSevenSugars · 06/09/2018 21:06

No pull ups or nappies. I've never seen her go down a slide on her front. Plus it's just a very thin line, a friction burn would be a larger surface area, no?

Glad for some suggestions other than stretch marks though, which have made me feel like maybe I'm completely unaware she's overweight! But just did her BMI and she's on the 56th percentile, so pretty normal. So bizarre.

MilkAndSevenSugars · 06/09/2018 21:07

Nobody thinks it's anything concerning then? Might pop into a pharmacy tomorrow anyway and see what they think.

MaryBoBary · 06/09/2018 21:07

It looks to me like some sort of friction burn from a cord or rope - I’m thinking a drawstring on a coat or something.

MaryBoBary · 06/09/2018 21:08

I would take her to gp to double check

chillichoclove · 06/09/2018 21:15

Any fevers? Do you have a cat? Could be bartonellosis or cat scratch disease. Agree see GP
It does look like a stretch mark but so can the rash

MarthaArthur · 06/09/2018 21:18

Could it just be a surface type redish bruise? They arent always painful.

picklemepopcorn · 06/09/2018 21:29

If she has delicate skin, stretch marks can happen very easily. I can get them from scratching or pulling at my skin.

MilkAndSevenSugars · 06/09/2018 22:04

Oh I'm bloody terrified about that bartonellosis now Shock looked after my friends cat for a couple of months while she was in hospital, she went about 6 weeks ago. Caught fleas (which were treated quickly, but still). She's not eating much actually, and is a bit lethargic, but our whole family have colds and she's coughing and things so just thought it was that.

😩😩 will try and get a doctors appointment for tomorrow. It sounds serious

chillichoclove · 06/09/2018 22:51

Sorry!
It was my neighbours little girl and I'm sure she just had antibiotics and got better. I only remember because we were talking about stretch marks.
Fingers crossed just a funny bruise and all OK!

MilkAndSevenSugars · 07/09/2018 20:27

Here's some more pics. I can't get a GP appt for 3 weeks so showed a doctor at my work these pictures. He said to phone our GP and say that he said she needs an appt early next week, likely for blood tests to check cortisol levels. I'm so scared about these syndromes he's obviously thinking about. Ehlers- Danlos particularly. She's very clumsy - the other day I was thinking actually that she trips over nearly every day, even when I'm holding her hand. At 3.5, is this normal? But then she's never fractured anything and doesn't seem hypermobile, which appear to be key symptoms.

Feel so panicky. Don't know if anyone else has any ideas?

OP posts:
MilkAndSevenSugars · 07/09/2018 20:37

And she had this thing maybe 6 months ago where she woke up all drowsy, couldn't hold her head up, couldn't walk etc.

Rushed her to A&E where she was admitted and given a ct scan and blood tests and things but got better after a couple of days and it was left like that with no answers. Though that doesn't match any of the syndromes I'm reading about really, but adds to my worry.

GlamGiraffe · 07/09/2018 22:50

I have EDS and don't have marks like this, although there are different types of the condition. I would assume he is thinking of "cigarette paper scars" but they don't look like this normally.
Could she have been playing with a pull cord on a toy or item of clothing like drawstring in trousers and wrapped it around her left fiddling? Would fit that pattern and the type of marking keep an eye on how it fades.
