Hi my daughter now 7 weeks has mild/moderate HIE as she suffered from
Lack of oxygen at birth due to a cord prolapse and was given the cooling treatment. We would like to take her to a neurologist for a second opinion even though we are visiting a Neonatologist on a regular basis. Can anyone recommend a really good neurologist in London please? Anyone had a similar experience at birth and can share any advice on what to do?

Hi OP

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had such a difficult time with your daughter. I’m assuming that you want a paediatric neurologist to give a second opinion on whether your baby has suffered any long term effects of HIE? In my experience she’s probably too young for them to be able to do that. Do you have any specific concerns eg with feeding, etc? A lot of babies aren’t diagnosed with CP until around the 12 month stage and even then it’s very difficult to predict the long term outcome. I can suggest a couple of names, but I think you’d be wasting your money at the moment.

I can’t recommend Dr David McCormick enough.

Thanks for the recommendations both! Also did you guys get the little ones physio therapy? Any good therapists?
Totally understand that it's too early to tell but being my first I wonder what is normal for her as a child and what is or could be symptomatic of HIE
