New to this, but hopefully someone can help. Noticed a few times that my 8yo dd has been wearing toilet paper in her pants. Finally asked her about it tonight and she absolutely lost it. Hysterical crying.

Anyhow, it transpires (after a lot of wheedling) that she's peed herself a couple of times. She says it happens straight after going for a wee at the toilet and the paper (holds it in). She says it's not a huge amount, but enough to make her pants wet.

She's dead against me telling anyone and got really distraught at my idea of the doctors. She's point blank refusing to stop the toilet paper system as it makes her feel better.

She's such a worrier, and so very private. I feel completely incompetent with this situation. Any advice welcome, sorry for the saga

Can you encourage her in ways to fully empty her bladder when urinating? Avoid caffeine and blackcurrant. There is a really good website ERIC. Good luck!

Thanks so much. She says that she is, but she's still so touchy about it. I'll check out Eric, thank you for your reply.

I would suggest double voiding. The website will help you to understand it.

Just been having a read of the website and it has made me feel better. I will teach her about double voiding and hope that it helps to rectify it Smile thank you

My DD has kidney reflux, so when urinating some wee goes up to kidneys rather than all downwards from bladder.
Her consultant suggested double voiding to help as often it helps in these situations and helps to not get urine infections

So yes try double voiding. Also see if you can get to to the docs as it may be something simple that can easily be resolved

How old is your daughter? I, of course, have now built it up to be something sinister due to the sudden onset. Isn't it amazing how everything is worse at night! Trying to convince re the doctor! Confused

Explain to her the doctor won't actually be physically inspecting her vagina/bladder. My daughter has an overactive bladder, and she assumed the doctor would need to "have a look" which she wasn't happy with. Explain it will be chatting about the problem and most prob giving a urine sample.

Managed to talk her round and make an appointment for Tuesday! Thanks for all the help

How did you get on?

Hello. We went to the gp who was excellent. She thinks there's some problems with constipation, so she's to up her water intake and see if that helps. Explained it all using a balloon and my dd feels a lot better about it now.

It was a bit of a struggle to get her to drink more yesterday as I think the whole dribbling thing is in the back of her mind.

Off to purchase a new water bottle for school today so hopefully that will encourage her Smile thank you
