Teething or infection

Hey, I'm hoping to get a bit of advice. My 11 month old has been unwell for a week now she peaked a fever of 40 for about 2 days thats come down now to normal and she's eating ok'ish. She had mild diarrhoea for those 2 days she had a fever, that's since cleared. Her nose hasn't stopped leaking like a tap. However She now has this rash pretty much all over thats progressed heavily in the last 24 hours. I'm thinking it's an infection maybe roseola as she started nursery 4 weeks ago others have said maybe teething. Any ideas?

Teething does not ever cause a fever of 40, nor does it cause a rash other than dribble rash around the mouth area. This is definitely an infection. Could be any number of things, general viral infections can cause a rash towards the end of the illness in young ones and usually take up to 2 weeks to disappear fully. If she's in good form and the fever is gone and the rash blanches (goes away when pressed with a tumbler) then I'd just keep her home and keep an eye as long as she's drinking okay, eating isn't as much of a worry.

Thanks, I was a bit sceptical of the teething idea. She is on good form health wise, still very tired and generally upset a lot but I'm guessing that's probably down the virus taking it out her and sapping all her energy.
Thanks for putting my mind at ease

No problem, it's very worrying when kids are sick, especially when very small still. If she's still grumpy and sleepy in a few days maybe re-evaluate xx

It looks like a viral rash to me x
