District Nurse complaint

So my 1 year old nephew has tumours in his brain and requires a feeding tube through his nose. Sometimes he pulls the tube out and the district nurses come out to put it back in at home, my sister doesn’t drive so the Drs at the hospital agreed it’s easier to be done at home.

Tonight, around 4:00pm my nephew pulled the tube out and my sister rang the district nurse...who refused to come out as she said it would go over her time but the district nurses don’t finish till 5pm? So I don’t understand the problem...have we got a basis to complain???

10 mins travel each way.
5 min procedure you say, but that's assuming the Nurse has done the procedure recently and can do it quickly, I don't think DN do this often in community so she may take longer.
Documenting what she has done afterwards.
So a minimum of 30 mins and prob longer.
She was prob doing something already in Office and she may have not been able to spare that 30 + mins.

It is frustrating for your relative but DNs don't generally have capacity to respond immediately. They prebook their schedule. They are not intended to be immediately free when asked.

Long term I think your relative needs to review her transport options to get to hospital, or I have heard of parents training to replace tubes themselves.
