Ds is almost 4. Been out of nappies for a year.

He does still occasionally have a wee accident but it's quite rare now. However he didn't 'get' potty training for quite a while so did have lots of accidents until the last few months. Last few months the accidents have been few and far between though.

Yesterday he had 2 accidents in the evening and today 4. Not full on wees but enough for me to need to change his pants.

Do you think this is just an off couple of days or could he have some sort of water infection or something?

He isn't telling me it hurts or he can't wee. He isn't running backwards and forwards and nothings coming out. Everything else seems normal except for the accidents.

Do I just give it a couple of days and see how it goes?

He's probably drinking a lot more than normal because of the heat, so I making more wee than usual.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 23/07/2018 19:46

Are you doing anything different or is his routine the same? Have you checked his temperature?

Quodlibet · 23/07/2018 19:47

Any big changes of routine/scene? That always scuppered my DD.

ShesABelter · 23/07/2018 19:49

My son went through a short phase of doing this last summer when he was 4 and he'd been potty trained since just before two off his own back as he wanted to use the toilet like his older siblings.

It was as if he was busy doing something becauae it was the hols and they were all playing and he tried holding off going until it was too late. I just made him go regularly even when he said he wasn't needing it for a few days and then he was back to normal.

I'd still be inclined to get him checked though if he hasn't been distracted or anything that has been making him hold off I know my husband doesn't always feel pain etc when he has had a urine infection so he could have one.

DD often has accidents if she's going down with something, even if it's just a cold. Equally, sometimes it's because she's engrossed in what she's doing and can't be bothered.

AtSea1979 · 23/07/2018 20:53

Probably the heat. Send him to the toilet on the hour or half hour depending how often.

blearyeyedbear · 23/07/2018 21:00

Is he constipated? Mine had regular small accidents when he was bunged up. I put it down to pressure on his bladder.

GlitteryFluff · 23/07/2018 21:52

Thank you all.
Don't think routine has changed.
Am going to make sure I prompt him loads tomorrow and see what happens. Won't rule out doctors if it keeps happening.

No constipation. Just getting over a cough so hopefully not coming down with anything!

Tired at all? Weight loss?

JiltedJohnsJulie · 23/07/2018 22:24

Good questions cable. That hadn’t crossed my mind. The only time my DS ever had accidents was when he was young and had tonsillitis. Hence me asking the OP about temperature Smile

Witchend · 23/07/2018 23:23

Ds did similar. About 12-18 months of no accidents and then we were away and he had nearly one a day. No pain, or complaints or anything. I just thought the first couple that he perhaps was a bit more tired.

I took him to the GP when we got back, feeling a bit silly, and he said accidents after being dry should always be investigated. Turned out he had an infection of the foreskin. Few days of cannistan and he was fine again and never another accident.

Mumto2two · 24/07/2018 18:55

DD has an immune disorder and has had well over 30 utis, one of her earliest signs is having lots of little accidents & sudden leaks. I would definitely follow up if it doesn’t resolve.

Racecardriver · 24/07/2018 19:02

It's probably the heat

5000KallaxHoles · 24/07/2018 19:46

DD2's been doing this - but in her case it's constipation starting to rear its head again and it's usually one of the first signs we need to get on raising laxative doses before she bungs up.
