Teenage DD has small red spots on her legs

They are tiny but lots of them. She is very self conscious and refuses to wear shorts because of them. Has come home from school telling me she hates her legs because other kids were asking about them today. Any ideas what it is and what we can do?

It could be Keratosis pilaris? My partner has this on his arms. Using those Korean exfoliating towels has made a dramatic difference.

Do they look like this ? I think they're caused by shaving .

I still have them after quitting shaving for 100% waxing. Following in case anybody has any good ideas. I'm dying to get rid of mine.

They are on her thighs and upper arms so not shaving.

Keratosis pilaris - I’ve read about this. Where do you get the exfoliating towels from? Also did you get a diagnosis first?

I ordered some from Amazon. Cheap, easy and effective! No, we didn’t get a diagnosis. DP didn’t even realise he had it (he’s colour blind so couldn’t see the spots clearly).

I use the towels myself just to exfoliate so it won’t do any harm to try!

Ok thanks - I will try that. She is mortified and anxious because the others think its acne. She showers regularly so its not dirty.

If it helps her at all it looks very mild from those photos. My DP’s looked more like the attached photo before.

Blueemeraldagain · 12/07/2018 19:53

With the towels you need to soak in a warm bath for about 20 mins ideally, a hot shower will work too but maybe for 25 mins as you’re not submerged, before exfoliating.

TimetoChange4 · 12/07/2018 19:54

That looks very similar. You’re right - hers does look mild but teenagers as so sensitive to looking different. Thanks for your response. Ive found them on Amazon so will give that a go

Any links to these towels?

MadhousMom59 · 12/07/2018 19:58

That's how my legs look after I have shaved my legs.

imsconequeen · 12/07/2018 20:01

I would get proper diagnosis from dr to get the right cream to treat......a high % of urea in a cream can help x

Blueemeraldagain · 12/07/2018 20:03

These are the ones I ordered but I’m sure they’re all the same really!

Perfectly1mperfect · 12/07/2018 20:58

Coconut oil is really good for KP.

TimetoChange4 · 12/07/2018 21:50

Thanks everyone. WE have ordered the towels Blueemeraldagain has suggested but will take her to the GP next week as suggested by imsconequeen
