Child vomiting and looking pale

My 7 year old daughter woke up unwell, she has been vomiting and is looking pale, she doesn't have a temperature. I have got an appointment with the doctor but wondering if I should take her to hospital. I am concerned because of her pale looking.

It could just be sickness bug. If so probably not the best idea for hospital as it'll spread x

It's probably just a tummy bug, paleness goes hand in hand with that! I wouldn't even take her to the doctor to be honest as they won't be able to do anything and you'll probably spread it round the surgery.

My 3 year old currently is very pale and has been sick. It's just a virus and I'm keeping him home until he gets better!
I wouldn't go to the doctor or hospital unless it continues and you are worried she is getting dehydrated or she is in lots of pain.

Paleness definitely goes hand in hand with stomach virus'. If it's only been one day I would wait it out as long as she can keep fluids done. I wouldn't go to the hospital unless she seemed dehydrated, lethargic etc.

Looking pale often goes hand-in-hand with feeling unwell, even moreso with tummy bugs, I wouldn't be taking her to the doctor or hospital just because she looks pale (unless there was an underlying health problem), just keep her at home, keep up the fluids and monitor.

No need for doctor or hospital.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 11/07/2018 12:42

Don’t take her to the doctor and spread it around. You can take care of her at home.

TheIsland · 11/07/2018 12:42

It sounds like a stomach bug. I really wouldn’t go to the GP unless it’s lasted quite a while - 5 days +.

Is it the first time she’s been sick as a child?

OuchLegoHurts · 11/07/2018 12:44

When people are sick they look pale. Don't bring her to a hospital!

clairethewitch70 · 11/07/2018 12:58

There are likely to be people at the GP with immune suppressed systems. Please don't take her - you could make someone else very ill.

Give her water to sip (oral rehydration sachets if you have them). Keep her off school.

clairethewitch70 · 11/07/2018 13:00

Forgot to add - Does she have any underlying medical conditions? Is she in pain? Has she never been sick before i.e is this different?

BlackInk · 12/07/2018 09:50

Hi OP

As others have said, unless your daughter has more going on than just being pale and vomiting then you really don't need to take her to the doctor's! There's nothing they can do for a sickness bug and you'll just end up spreading it to other people.

Just let her rest and offer her tiny sips of water but no food until she stops being sick. She's 7 years old so unlikely to get seriously dehydrated unless this goes on for days.

You're extremely lucky if this is the first time she's been sick in 7 years!

Hope she feels better very soon x

Has she eaten anything? Could be pale due to low sugars which is easily treated at home. Give her a sugared drink, sips every 10 minutes. I hope she feels better soon.
