Baby’s eye

On Saturday, our 7 month old was playing happily in his playpen/travel cot when suddenly he burst into tears. Not unusual, he doesn’t like going down for long, but when being picked up he squirmed and bumped his head. The bottom of the playpen is pretty padded and he stopped crying as soon as I held him.

A few hours later I noticed one of his eyes had become slightly bloodshot. It’s not leaking or red in any other way and I initially thought he must have scratched himself (his nails needed a trim as he’d already scratched his toe). He’s not any different in himself, not vomiting, lethargic or any more fussy than usual, still smiling and playing. This morning whilst debating whether to take him to the doctor I decided to google babies with a bloodshot eye. Suffice to say I’m now utterly terrified, everything suggests that if I do take him to be checked I’ll be accused of shaking him! The eye is slowly getting better, and as said, he doesn’t seem any ‘different’ in himself, should I take him to be checked anyway? Or leave it to clear by itself? After everything I’ve just read, I’m terrified of even leaving the house in case someone thinks I’ve hurt my child!

he seems fine and happy so dont worry. but you could always go to a drop in baby clinic and get him checked.
