Occupational Health for a child what to expect

DS (9) and has been referred to Occupational Health through SENCO at school.

We’ve now got the letter to make an appointment but there’s not much info on what to expect.

Anybody have any experience of OT?

For a bit of background DS is left handed and struggles with writing if doing it for any length of time. I’ve had a chat with the SENCo and she detailed this and some issues he has in sport/PE.

We’ve been told that the appointment could be at the centr, school or home but we don’t know which would be best.

they can run standardised assessment to test his motor skills and suggest tools such as finger grips as well as exercises. look at posture and seating too or provide sloping boards for his desk.

Thanks cestlavielife

He’s got a left handed pen & writing slope at school.

It’ll be good if they look at his posture as he bends right over (nearly laying on the table) when he’s writing it drawing.
