So my 12 year old had a brain tumour removal in 2014 and has a huge scar down the back of his head since being at secondary school he gets bullied everyday because of it, has anyone got any ideas on how I can hide it I’ve tried the powder folicals but that just parts and sticks to the hair around it, I’ve tried face paint but that comes off and I’ve tried eyeliner all of which doesn’t work any help advice greatly appreciated. My DS has a scar ear to ear over the top of his head from Cranio surgery. His usual scissor cut hair style covers it nicely. I'm guessing your sons stands out more if it's straight down the back?

To be honest I'd spend less time covering it up and more on boosting his confidence about it. We've always talked about it with DS (he's 6) so it's just a part of him. Talk about how strong it makes him to have survived that.

I'd also be pushing the school to stop the bullying. They should be stepping in here as well. Good luck.

Yes, but I agree deal with the bullying and DS's response to it rather than trying to cover it. It's not the same thing but 15yo DS2 has a large mole on his face, other children mention it with varying degrees of unkindness but he's very matter of fact about it it being a part of him. He says if you ignore the nasty ones they soon get bored and go away.

Tattoo concealer will give you good coverage but I agree that he should not have to cover it.

Speak to the school and have them address the bullies of you can.

another consideration is these plasters www.amazon.co.uk/SCAR-COTE-Silicone-Scar-Sheet-Dressing/dp/B077GR82BL/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?psc=1&s=drugstore&keywords=silicone+scar+plasters&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1530644037&sr=1-3-spons

I was given some by the OT team after a hand surgery, you leave them on 24 hrs a day for a week then swap for a new one. They did a brilliant job of flattening and fading my scar, results were clear within a few days. A couple of weeks and it had massively faded. Skin test first by wearing for an hour and then taking it off for a few hours to make sure there's no reaction.

Thanks all for the help I will check out tattoo coverup and the scar sheet, I totally agree with you with the being proud of it I tell him this everyday but he’s at that age and gets very upset I’m hoping with age he will just not care about it and be a proud survivor. I’ve been to the school numerous times and nothing seems to get done think I may contact the local MP. We get his hair cut in like a mowhawk style but the hair always finds a way of parting. Kids can be so cruel Angry
