Understand that this isn't for actual medical advice but anyone know what this rash could be? My son is fine, no signs of illness. Could it be heat rash? It's a raised rash

Could it be a heat rash? Or sweat rash? Mine struggled massively in the heat yesterday (we’re in Scotland so seriously not used to it!!) and DD has a wee sweat rash this morning from her shorts.

arghhhhhhh · 29/06/2018 09:19

Yes that's what I'm thinking, surely the heat must have something to do with it. He's fine in himself so I've sent him off to school but then I still worry....but then I think I don't want to take him to the doctors when he's fine in himself....I'm putting it down to the heat also. He refuses to wear school shorts so that probably doesn't help.

Thanks, I'll see what he's like at home time x

Hopefully it’s eased a bit, is it itchy?

I know I sound like a misery guts but this heat is brutal! Mine were wiped out by lunchtime yesterday! Thankfully school holidays have started here!

I guess bicarbonate in the bath could ease it? It helped DD last night, hers is round her waist.

Bouledeneige · 29/06/2018 09:24

Looks like heat rash or hives. Has he been siting in long grass?

Partyfops · 29/06/2018 09:25

Have you tried anti histamines?

Verbena37 · 29/06/2018 09:26

Is the rash only in that area or just one leg or all over?
I would get that sort of rash if I knelt in grass. Grass pollen makes me get eczema type symptoms.

Bowlofbabelfish · 29/06/2018 09:34

Random question;

He’s not eaten anything with shiitake mushrooms in it has he?

The stripes look like poison ivy/poison oak rash otherwise. Keep an eye on it, if you’re worried see the doc.

arghhhhhhh · 29/06/2018 09:37

He suffers with asthma/hay fever so I imagine they could be connected. Yes quickly have him some portion before school.

The rash is on his feet and legs - though one leg is a lot worse than the other - the one in the picture - and it's on his hands also.

He's on the school field every day and did pe yesterday.

I'm 30 weeks pregnant so I'm well and truly fed up of the heat! Kids are wiped out too, we've been living off sandwiches I can barely make anything else!

Thanks for all replies, I feel better now and I'm sure it's linked to the heat/and hay fever. Will keep my eye on him over the weekend. Thank you x

@Bowlofbabelfish sorry cross posted. Nope definitely nothing like that, he's massively fussy with food as it is and we've only been having simple things to eat at home lately. School dinners have been pasta and fish dishes which he has all the time. Thanks for the suggestion though - the lines are what is confusing me x

THe lines look like where he has scratched it. I sometimes come up in weird rashes - I assume to be some sort of allergy, but don't know what - but when it happens, all my skin seems to become extra sensitive, and if I scratch the itchy bits, the scratch marks become really inflamed (not broken skin, just really red and raised).
Have been to the Gp in the past who confirmed probably just an allergy, and probably won't find out what - just take antihistamines.

Branleuse · 29/06/2018 09:46

has he been playing in grass or woodland?

Bowlofbabelfish · 29/06/2018 09:49

The lines look like some sort of plant has touched him and he’s had a reaction. If it doesn’t go down, blisters, or if you’re worried see the doc - they might give you some steroid cream etc.

Heat doesnt help does it? So bloody hot just now.

FizzForLunch · 29/06/2018 10:00

Looks like hives to me. The heat can make the skin more reactive to things that wouldn't normally bother him.

arghhhhhhh · 29/06/2018 10:27

The only place he will of been playing is the school field. He is autistic so doesn't play outside at home. I'll carry on with the antihistamines over the weekend and just hope it will disappear. I've asked him if it's itchy but he says not - but then again he is autistic so his answers don't necessarily mean he's telling the truth! I haven't seen him scratching though.
