Is this chicken pox? Or something sinister? (Pictures)

I swore I would never ask the internet for a diagnosis, but you're not supposed to bring poxy children to the GP, and I'm not sure, so here we are.

DD is 4 and came up in red spots yesterday. These are the spots today. She doesn't seem bothered by them as in they aren't itchy, is that possible with chicken pox?

Would love to be sure and to have got it out of the way. So roll up, roll up, let's see what the consensus is. Pox, or no pox?

Looks like it to me. Have any blistered?

KavvLar · 20/06/2018 11:28

They're mainly on her trunk and back, and then one or two on her face and neck

Pox.

Yep looks like it. Prepare for an outbreak! Coconut oil, oats in the bath and paracetamol at the ready!

KavvLar · 20/06/2018 11:30

A couple look a bit liquidy to me. Not sure about blistering but maybe that is the same thing?

Filled with liquid = blister and looks like the pox to me. They spread quite quickly so you'll know within about 12 hours if it is or not.

KavvLar · 20/06/2018 16:53

Yes this is defo pox. Loads of them now. Thanks people. It threw me off that they weren't itching and that she is still bombing about the house like normal.

When my ds had them he was 2 and he didn't itch the first day at all, he didn't even get a fever until the 3rd day, it was quite random the order of symptoms I thought at the time too. He had 3 spots on his neck one morning, I phoned the gp and he asked to see him that afternoon as he wasn't sure over the phone what it was, by 2.30pm at the appointment it had went from 3 spots to about 30, the next day was even worse they come thick n fast for the first 4 days or so. I'd recommend virasooth instead of calamine lotion, and liquid piriton since she's over 1yr old both from the chemist over the counter. The piriton should also help her sleep as its a bit drowsy.

Thanks Nogods that's really good to know as I was stumped with the lack of itching. She is really struggling to get off to sleep though. I gave her piriton and tried to get her down at 8pm. She stayed awake til 11:00 and was then up at 7:30 full of beans.
