Given Bonjela for a 3 week old , is it safe?

Took my three week old DS2 to the chemist and asked for something for teething. Had DS1 with me so was in a hurry to get out and didn’t really think to look at the box of the bonjela the pharmacist handed me. Got home and when DS2 started crying again from the pain of his first tooth coming through I went to get the box and noticed it says in several places, not suitable for under 2 months.

Did the pharmacist give it to me by accident? It was the end of the day so maybe she was tired or something. She did ask his age but no further questions or comments (such as ‘only use it if it’s really bad/necessary’). Don’t want to use it now, but if not then what is suitable for a baby this young?

No I wouldn't give it, are you sure it's a tooth coming?!
It seems very early.

Lol! No! Don't give your three week old Bonjela.

What makes you think a 3 week old is teething?

Phuquocdreams · 19/06/2018 21:23

A first tooth at 3 weeks?!

Dentinox is similar but suitable from birth apparently. We had to use it following a tongue tie division.

Can you see a tooth?

AirandMungBeans · 19/06/2018 21:38

My first teethed at that age, first tooth popped through at five weeks. He had five by four months, all, including the big back ones by 18 months. Now he's annoyed that all his younger friends are losing their first tooth while his are still stuck fast ConfusedI remember asking the same question, everyone irl thought I was mad. I just used to rub his gums with my finger as it seemed to smooth him. I don't recall putting anything on his gums. Maybe ask the health visitor.

Yes I can see a tooth. Il not give it to him - wasn’t going to anyway but is there anything else I can do for his pain? Are teething powders suitable?

Il go back tomorrow and ask about Dentinox. For now il try rubbing his gum gently when he needs it - thanks

My aunt was born with teeth, so it’s definitely possible. In any case, there is definitely a tooth poking through lol
