Hi please can anyone advise me, I’m so upset my 3yr old son slipped over and bumped his front tooth this afternoon it looks like it’s moved, he was crying we both were so I didn’t touch it. Does anyone have any advice I’m so worried it’s damaged.

It may we’ll be damaged or go a different colour if it stays in. However in the plus side, a baby tooth will eventually grow back as an adult tooth. Not much comfort BUT if it does fall out it will eventually be replaced.

Book an emergency dentist appointment tomorrow morning but try not to worry.

Even if worst case it needs taking out or something it would be falling out by reception-year 1 anyway. My 5 year olds lost a bottom one and her top 2 are wobbly so its not too much age difference, at least it's only a baby tooth. Smile

My 3 year old knocked his tooth out last month. Took him to dentist who confirmed it was broken and would need extracting but actually when they took an x-ray there was no root on the tooth anyway and it just fell out a couple of days later so no extraction needed. Looks a bit strange but we got used to it quickly. As it's a front tooth they don't need to have spacers or anything and the adult tooth will just come through in a couple of years. His other front tooth is dead too I think as small root and a bit grey but he knocked that one again recently and although it's moved it's no longer wobbly so hopjng that one stays put a while longer l. Unfortunately my son seems to always hit his teeth!

He first knocked them about 18 months ago which is probably why there was no root but it had stayed in for that long with no problems what so ever even eating apples or things so if your son doesn't knock it again it might be absolutely fine.

My 4 year old had a horrible scooter accident a couple of years ago. One of his front teeth is darker than the other and is now smaller than the other. We took him to the dentist when it happened and luckily it hadn't broken, just damaged and will just eventually fall out like the others. It doesn't bother him at all now.

JR treat the tooth very gently when brushing - even if it is damaged and changes colour, teeth can heal (very slowly). This happened to my daughter - she knocked one front tooth badly - she was 18 months or so & after a while it went grey. Dentist told us to keep an eye on the gum above - if that starts looking a bit funny - straight back to dentist (for extraction).

Her gum always looked fine & I was extremely careful with her front tooth. After a few years her tooth had healed to part grey, part white. It was a baby tooth and eventually fell out & her adult teeth are fine - not affected at all.
I hope that helps you.
