Anyone's DC have bladder/incontinence issues?

My DD is 4 and is being treated for constipation - we are under a paed at the enuresis clinic etc. The treatment is going well, and I am confident that she is no longer constipated, but she is still wetting herself several times a day. I had hoped that the daily wetting would disappear now that she doesn't have a blockage pushing against her bladder, but no luck. :/

Our next appointment isn't for another month, so I'm planning on keeping up with her maintenance dose of movicol until then, but could there be other issues at play here? I'd like to do a bit of reading until the appointment so I can ask pertinent questions. Are there medications that could help? Diagnostic tests I can enquire about? If anyone has had a child with similar issues, how did you resolve them?

She has been wetting herself on a daily basis the whole time she's been out of nappies, so over 2 years. It's a bit soul destroying, tbh.

Our situation is slightly different as Dd isn’t struggling so much with constipation but is having multiple accidents per day (as many as 12). She is under a consultant paediatrician who diagnosed an over active bladder and prescribed medication. The medication was great for 3 weeks but the then stopped working. One of its side effects is constipation so it might not be the best option for your daughter. We go back to the consultant soon so will have to discuss other options.
It’s a really tough thing for little ones to have to deal with and I have to keep reminding myself that it’s miserable for her and just an inconvenience for me!
She also had a scan done which showed everything is structurally fine but she doesn’t empty fully when going to the toilet.
I hope we get some more answers soon and you do too.

8yo here who has been under paediatrician for about 4 years, on and off medication, saw different specialists and still we’re no better off. It’s soul destroying and I hope you have better luck than me!

Watching with interest because my 4 yr old has similar issues (the wetting, not constipation). I find it’s worse if she’s eaten a lot of sugar.

I have one wth this problem too. Sustained few weeks of reminding seems to have helped so it is watching and waiting. This thread has prompted me to think a trip to the doc might be the next step

The medication my Dd was given for her Overactive bladder is Oxybutynin.
Has anyone tried this without success then gone onto anything more successful?
She starts school in September and I’m really concerned about how we will manage the amount of accidents she has.

DD is 5 in just over a week and has spent the whole of reception having accidents. She can be wet up to 4 times during the school day.
I always send her to school with 4 pairs of leggings in a bag, with a carrier bag and an extra pair of socks.
I spoke to her teacher at the "meet the teacher" about how many accidents she has and they've been SO good about it.
I did buy a vibrating alarm watch (£26 on Amazon) which I can set 8 alarms on. The teacher said she's a lot better and less embarrassed when she wears it.

We went to the GP who referred us to paediatrician but she blamed me. She said it's because I baby her and because I was pregnant. Which is total rubbish because she'd done it for ages before I fell pregnant.
She also said they won't do anything until she's 5 Angry

After reading this, I'm going to ring the doctors tomorrow morning and get another appointment!! I'm so worried about year one.

It’s so tough for them. My Dd was 3 when she started having accidents, she’s now 4 but our gp and the paediatrician have been really good about it. Initially I thought she had a uti as the accidents happened all of a sudden. Samples were sent away on 2 separate occassions but came back negative. The gp referred on our 3rd visit for the same thing. The paediatrician agreed that her frequency of urinating wasn’t right as she had been potty trained and stable for 18 months prior.
I’m not sure we will find a wonder cure but I need to help her in any way I can.
I hope you get some help bakebakebake

Also have an 8 year old who still has problems. We are about to start oxybutin whilst we wait for the next paediatric appointment. A previous ultrasound shows there is no structual reason for the wetting so I don’t know what we do now. I am so worried about her friends realising and making fun of her. She is really embarrassed and won’t talk about it but not embarrassed enough to use the toilet properly.

Went to see the nurse practitioner today and she gave me this bladder diary to do with DD.

As evidence of her accidents. Saw her at 11 and she'd already had 4 accidents this morning since getting up at just after 7.

Said to go back when it's full.
