Hi hoping for some recommendations searching for a natural
based barrier suncream for my DS back of knee area. When we go to the beach his legs het really red inflamed and stingy in sea water and we thought a vaseline type sunscreen could
help this summer holiday? Ive seen a few on amazon but hard to know what to pick? Thinking the sort of stuff gnarly surfer dudes would use could
work ?? Any experiences here ? Also read seawater should help eczema but not here sadly ! thanks in
advance !!

I have eczema and struggle with suncreams . The only one I can use is P20 as it goes on in alcohol rather than cream. Vaseline stings me a lot, I find Aveeno much kinder. Long lycra swim shorts/skins/leggings might help.

Try a heavy Vaseline/cream and see if it aggravates before trying a heavy sunblock.

And my sister is a gnarly surfer dude - she wears a wetsuit Wink

I thought the P20 would sting because of the alcohol ?

Green People sun cream is well worth a try, Ds has eczema and also generally very sensitive skin, most other sun creams bring him out in a rash.

They do samples so you can give it a go without committing to a big tube. As a whole family we just use the factor 30 n everyone as its so lovely. They do a specific kids one as well though.

DS isnt too bad with most suncreams everywhere else just the backs of his knees get really irritated by the seawater so i wanted to coat them with a barrier suncream ?

Sunsense Toddler Milk

Never used it personally, but I came across it while looking for suncream for severe prickly heat. It had rave reviews for eczema ... I recommended it to our dentist whose dd had horrendous eczema ... she tried it and was absolutely blown away by it, it was the first time she’d used sun cream without any reactions. She said her holidays have now been changed completely due to this sun cream.

The green people on is the only one that doesnt hurt my sons eczema. Its brilliant!
He didnt burn even at 40 degrees.
Its mineral based.

We tried the Sunsense too, on advice of the dermatologist but he reacted to it with a rash and it stung on application.

The P20 does sting because of the alcohol - it's only for a few seconds though. When I applied it to DS when he was small (sadly inherited my skin/allergy problems) we used to make it into a 'game' where by I rubbed it on and he screamed and waved his leg/arm around. Sounds worse than it actually was when it's written down, but it doesn't make the eczema worse as other creams can.

Badgers suncream is zinc oxide based and worked for my eczema-y baby/toddler.
