I feel horrendous, last summer we took a day trip to the coast. Long story short I applied sun cream to dd, except she took her tshirt off shortly afterwards and ran around in her cozzi, about 2 hours later I went to re apply sun cream and noticed Dds shoulders were very red and realised the error that actually they didn't have cream on. From that point she covered up completely but unfortunately the damage was done and her shoulders were quite badly burnt.
I've noticed this summer that her shoulders are covered in freckles. We've been regularly applying body cream but I'm really scared that I've irreversiblely damaged Dds skin.
is there anything I can do to repair the damage? Dd has been good since covering up, we have uv sweat vests for in the sea/pool in the summer. and we've been applying sun cream religiously.

please don't come along and have a go at me, I'm normally really careful with the sun and slipped up, I'd just like some advice of repairing it if possible.

You don't have a time machine. You do want to make sure that she doesn't burn in the same place again...and preferably for at least a few years doesn't tan in the same place (even tanning is causing skin injury, just less so). Areas of skin that have sustained damage can be much more sun sensitive for several years, so definitely don't just rely on block.

My left arm burnt as a child and is now always quicker to 'catch'.

I don't think there's anything you can do except be careful as you are.

Thank you.

we are both being very careful to make sure she's covered up in the sun.....with cream and a tshirt or uv shirt.

I have been looking online and saw that vitamin e can help but I wasn't sure if that was true or not.
