Hi ladies. I’m just wondering what i should do about my little girl, I’m pretty certain she has IBS. Constant stomach aches, poorly poo, etc. I have it so know the symptoms but I don’t know what to do about it. Do I take her to the doctors? They’ve been neither use nor ornament as far as my IBS is concerned.
Thanks in advance.

I know you say you have it, so know it, but....Before you say IBS, have you looked at other possible causes?

I (and most of my family inc DD) have a Lactose Intolerance. The symptoms are exactly those you describe and pre-schoolers go through loads of dairy!

I went from having symptoms constantly to none at all by limiting dairy consumption. Over time, I've learned that I don't need a complete exclusion, just very, very low levels and the symptoms stay either non-existent or managable.

If you ahven't done exclusion diets already, try switching to Lactofree milk (tastes almost exactly the same) and taking out cheese/yoghurt etc for a few days and see what happens. If nothing else, and it doesn't work, a food diary like this will give you stronger ammo with the doctors because they'll have less to tell you to try before taking you seriously.

I'd be really surprised if a 4 year old had Ibs as it's basically due to stress and psychological issues with no organic cause.

Have you kept a food diary ?
