10 y/o DS Sore privates/pain when urinating HELP!

Good morning everyone,

My DS has woken up and is almost in tears. I asked him what was up and he said that his ‘willy hurted’. He said it started hurting about 1hr ago but he tried to get back to sleep. He was very embarrassed about the matter but he was in so much pain that he allowed me to look. His foreskin is very red and swollen, I can’t see the inside because he can’t retract his foreskin yet (I don’t think) and I don’t want to cause any harm by trying to pull it back when he is in so much pain. He also says that it burns when he tries to have a wee.

We are on holiday at the moment in Turkey and we are not due back until Sunday afternoon. Otherwise I would have taken him to the doctors.

I am not sure of any creams that we can get over here. Any suggestions/advice much appreciated,

Clare

Hi Gertrude,

They have put some sort of cream on him to ease the pain and they will probably do the same as you for my DS then. I did have to stop one of the nurses though because she tried to retract his foreskin. He is still in a lot of pain. Thanks for the best wishes.

Don't be terrified of circumcision if it should become necessary. Recovery time is quick, and it doesn't have to be traumatic.

I know that the recovery time is quick, but I would hate to see him go through it.

Circumcision is not inevitable by any means.

My Ds 4 currently has balinitis. He was prescribed a ateriod cream twice a day for 5 days. It does seem to be helping him. The doctor was able to retract his foreskin to have a look at him without any issue. And advised us to get him to gently do it himself when he has a bath and give a gently clean.

I hope he's ok.

Thank you for your messages everyone, we are back at the hotel now, he is not finding it as painful as earlier but his penis still looks red and swollen. At the hospital, they wanted to make sure that his bladder didn’t overfill and since he was not weeing they decided to catheterise him. A lot of wee came out (450 ml). They tested for a UTI, and although his urine was almost dark orange, the test was clear. We have been given a steroid cream to for him to use until we get back from our holiday and then we will go to see our gp if matters have not improved.
