Nappy rash - metanium

Our one-month old has been suffering from nappy rash. Really sore and red bottom. I've tried airing her out, frequent nappy changes, using disposable rather than reusable for now as it's more absorbent, and Sudacrem.

I then heard about Metanium and got some today. What's worrying me is that some of it has stuck to a sore and isn't coming off between nappies. Maybe I'm using too much (was using a pea-sized blob as instructed). Is it meant to be stuck? Should I try to get it off, and how might I do that?

Thank you!

You don’t need to scrape off metanium, just apply a thin layer and leave it.

Thin layer & dab not rub on skin.

A pea size blob is way too much for a nearly newborn, you literally need a thin smear. It worked wonders for my newborn who seemed to dribble poo constantly.

Bitlost · 23/05/2018 20:12

Do not rub. Leave as is.

You should still be able to see the skin through the cream, so not much at all.
I found metanium made my baby's bum worse though and was prescribed epaderm which is great.

Ok I was using too much! Will scale back and hopefully that bit that's stuck will dislodge itself or at least not be doing any harm!

Were your babies really cranky when they had nappy rash?

Her rash doesn't look awful compared with some frightening pics I've found online, but she's been crying a lot the last few days. Not sure if it's rash-related or just her age...

Metanium is a wonder cream. Just apply and wait. No more nappy rash.
