Anyone know what there spots are? Pics

Just noticed these spots on DS (9yrs) he has several on his back/front/arms. I thought mosquito bites but they seem to have a little white head? He says they are itchy. Any thoughts. Not chicken pox he's had it twice!

DS has the exact same. Looks like chicken pox but doc confirmed it’s not, and hasn’t come on quickly or widely enough for CP. Doc said post-viral rash but DS has been in the garden a LOT lately so maybe a bug. Crusted over now but a few more keep appearing.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 22/05/2018 17:39

(I didn’t take him to docs for a rash/CP btw, was there for other son and just got him to look quickly!)

Oh thank you so much for your speedy reply. How strange though. Doesn't really look like a post viral rash and he's not been poorly although suffering with hayfever a bit. Will keep an eye on them.

It might be mulloscum contagiosum. It's a viral thing and takes ages to go. But there's no treatment. If it is, then you'll start seeing more appearing.

OnTopOfSpaghetti · 22/05/2018 17:50

Ok thanks @EmmaSwann Will have a Google, wondering if it's courageous....

Or even contageous, stupid auto correct Grin

BendydickCuminsnatch · 22/05/2018 18:12

Oh no don’t say that Emma! DS already has one weird stubborn skin condition, I don’t want another! Starting to question my hygiene standards! Sad

OnTopOfSpaghetti · 22/05/2018 19:02

I'm sure its not your fault @BendydickCuminsnatch! I googled molloscum contagiousum and I don't think its that, all the images show a spot with a dimple in the centre. I reckon he's been bitten in the night and it just looks a bit odd... that's my current theory anyway!

Folicilitis?

OnTopOfSpaghetti · 22/05/2018 19:58

Ew I wish I hadn't just googled that @Larrythelamb84! Not sure its that as it is in random places on torso, arms, also noticed some around his waistband.

OP posts:
RNBrie · 22/05/2018 20:00

It looks a lot like early molluscum to me. The spots only develop the dimples towards the end of their life cycle - usually around a year. They start off looking just like that

OnTopOfSpaghetti · 22/05/2018 20:12

Ok that's interesting @RNBrie . He's in the bath and saying they are sore when he touches them. A couple look quite angry...

Ha sorry! Both my daughters had exactly the same. Not too many to be chicken pox, but enough to be noticeable for school to send them home! They had tiny white heads on them. Folicilitis was the diagnosis and some antibiotic cream sorted them out.

OnTopOfSpaghetti · 22/05/2018 20:37

Maybe it is then. Actually I'd quite like it to be something curable with a cream! Going to take him to the walk in clinic at the doctors in the morning to get it checked. Thanks for the advice everyone Smile

At first they just said virus, but when they didn’t go they took another look and diagnosed that. My youngest is still getting spots but has been under the weather so I’m assuming it’s virus related at the moment.

OnTopOfSpaghetti · 22/05/2018 21:36

Thank you @Larrythelamb84 I hope your Dd gets better soon

I agree probably bites. We saw very good paediatric dermatologist in oxford Dr McPherson

llangennith · 28/05/2018 22:24

May be insect bites and he (luckily) doesn’t get a big reaction to them.
