One chicken pox spot?

DD is 12 months, and has what looks like one chicken pox spot. It’s on her back and looks like a small fluid filled blister. She’s absolutely fine in herself, but has been snotty for a couple of weeks. We’ve been on the lookout for it because DS (3yo) started with CP couple of weeks ago, had a very standard dose of it (waves of pink spots which blistered, burst and scabbed over). Apart from a mild temperature and being achy on the first day, he was fine.

Can you get mild chicken pox? Does this mean she’ll catch it again later on? 🤔

Yes and yes but it could just be the herald spot in which cause there are more spots to come

As above. I don't recall the exact details off hand but there is definitely an age below which getting chicken pox doesn't confer full immunity. And also getting a very mild dose may not.

If she's 12 months, you might want to think about getting her vaccinated against it, if that's an option for you.

Thank you all. Never heard of the herald spot! She did end up getting full blown chicken pox, I’d say she’s probably got around 25 spots now so hopefully that’s bad enough to mean she won’t get them again.

sycamore I had heard of the vaccine and am kicking myself a bit because I kept meaning to book them both in for it, then DS got them! He’s starting school in Sep and if he hadn’t caught them before then I’d definitely have got the jab for them.
