6 weeks old with flatulance! Not for the faint hearted!

Our 6 week old baby is very, very gorgeous, but very, very windy! She is breast fed and has reflux for which she is treated with ranitidine, don't know if that makes a difference?!
She was initially prescribed gaviscon which made her very constipated... she was later given suppositories and has had one 'non assisted' poop since, that was 5 days ago and as the days roll on her farts become increasingly pungent, not a little bit whiffy, but clear a room strong!!
Not what i imagined from our little bundle of joy, who looks so cute but smells like egg!! I'm not too concerned, as i'm aware that breast fed babies can go up to 1 week without pooping and she doesn't seem uncomfortable, as she did before, when we used the suppositories, but i wondered if anyone knows of any foods i might be eating that could be affecting this? Any advice? Anyone experienced similar?

No advice a s such, but I feel you. Our six week old son is also on ranitidine as gaviscon made him really constipated. He still hadn't pood for ages though and was in pain so we switched to comfort milk.

He is going regularly now (yay) but has really horrible, eggy farts. My husband is fine as he has no sense of smell, but I am away to light some incense to waft around the house.

You can have my dd for a week if you like. She is 8mo and has somehow taught herself to lift her legs up when she farts and laugh her head off. And she smells bloody rotten.
No advice sorry, I was always told it was normal unless it was more than a week. But once we started to go to baby massage class her bowels got better. You do a gentle circle around her belly button about twenty times. About half an hour later she pooped loads. There is also the baseline on a cotton bud tip that is apparently meant to work but I as always worried about doing this

My DD was the most flatulent baby I had ever met, she was and is breastfed exclusively, she never had any medicine or reflux so it must have just been the way she is. Her farts were truly magnificent when I considered they came from such a small person! I never ever managed to get her to burp after a feed, but she would be farting all day and night, it was so loud it would wake me. She regularly went 7+ days between poos at that age, take it as a blessing - less dirty nappies and totally normal with a bad baby. She has grown out of it now thankfully, as a newborn she did a really loud one while I was on the phone to the bank and I heard the guy on the phone sniggering to himself, I didn’t feel I could claim it was my baby who I was currently holding as she was otherwise totally silent, so had to take the blame/shame myself.

Haha!! Thanks all! Guess i'll just get used to the eggyness 😊 and will definitely try baby massage!

Reflux, and constipation, and wind...it might be worth trying cutting out dairy in your own diet for a week or two, and seeing if it makes any difference. Though probably better to have a chat with your HV/GP/whoever is managing the reflux to see if they think cows milk protein is a possibility...
