Or does anyone know what the most common type of brace used for fixing an overjet is?
I know every case is different but are we more likely to be looking at train tracks or a removable brace?
DS11 has just been referred but we haven't had an appointment through yet and he is desperate to know.

My son had train tracks for his overlapping teeth. He was very lucky and only had braces in for 10 months rather than the minimum of 18 months.

Usually fixed ortho these days.
Depending on which part of the country you live in & whether you are being referred as a NHS patient, your son could be on an ortho waiting list for 2yrs.
Year 8 is generally a good age to start ortho treatment. More mature & emotionally ready for all entailed including any possible extractions.

Could be initially twin block removal braces followed by the fixed type. You should have the full treatment plan at the first visit.

My dd2 is just starting treatment for an overate - 9ish months of twin block followed by train tracks.

Dd1 has finished her treatment - twin blocks followed by fixed brace. Her teeth are beautiful.
