Strange spot on arm. What is it?

Peppersandrice · 30/04/2018 19:43

DD has had this spot on her arm for about 6 weeks. At first I thought just a normal spot and she came home from school one day to say she had picked it off. But it’s came back.
Does it look like a wart? I’ve never had a wart so not sure exactly how they look.
It’s just a single one with nothing anywhere else.
Any ideas?

Molluscum contagiosum? Though I think they normally come in groups

I agree that it's Molluscum contagiosum my DD has a couple of identical looking spots on her legs and the GP advised that they don't need treatment and will go eventually.

Molluscum contagiosum. Maybe cover with a plaster to try to prevent spreading further. Dd had lots of them including on her face. They took months to go

Molluscum. People generally recommend irritating them a bit to trigger the immune system to fight them off. If it bursts, you have to wash it well as they spread by scratching etc.

Ok! That’s good that everyone knows what it is! Can they spread between other children. DD2 has a big cluster on her bum cheeks and I’ve tried every cream and lotion and potion and was gonna go to GP. I’m wondering if that’s the same thing. They come up like spots and burst and scan then come back up more and more. I don’t really want to post a pic of her bum though Blush

They are very contagious, but they go eventually. DS2 had them for ages, including an absolute volcano on his wrist.

dementedpixie · 30/04/2018 20:29

Yes they can be passed on. Dd passed hers on to ds but he had a much smaller amount of lesions

Very contagious my dd has them behind her knees some are red and others flesh coloured , I noticed a couple on her arm tonight . She uses her own towels & I encourage her not to scratch as they will spread , washing hands regularly is important as she also one under her eye I hope that they don’t start appearing on her face . The Dr advised leaving well alone but I’m worried about the whole family getting them . The school nurse recommended diluted tea tree oil which worked for her
