Dd fell on her face

She was trying to walk around furniture (she's 1) and fell on her face (I was next to her getting a nappy bag out to change her) but I didn't catch her it was too quick. She screamed like I've never heard her scream before and her mouth poured of blood. I cleaned her up and cuddled her but she won't let me see her teeth. Dp reckons her top tooth has split her lip or dug into her gums. She seems fine now but won't let me look. I'm panicking! What do I do? I haven't stopped crying since Im so worried about her

You need to stop crying.
You need to practise remaining calm no matter what happens to your child. Sign up for a first aid course.

Wrap her in a towel or blanket and hold her so ypur dh can get a good look in her mouth while you hold her head still.

If still bleeding take to out of hours. If seems calm and bleeding stopped wait til morning.
Dose with Calpol.

This happened to DD and she had torn her frenulum, which healed on its own and was absolutely fine. Please stop crying though, it will alarm her.

Once walking, kids fall a lot. You do need to relax and be ready for it. I always had a policy that if there was a Big Bang and silence, I would go to them. A Big Bang and crying, they come to me! A first aid course would give you confidence

If even now you still see but blood around the tooth try not to touch the tooth it might have moved but will stabilise by itself. It does happen a lot this age dont worry, this is how they learn. Good luck x

And audit is right.
If they fall and bleed and do not cry you need to be a lot more worried e.g. concussion.

Silence after a fall is more worrying...

DD did something similar at that age - fell on her face in the living room - It wasnt the 1st time and frankly I was unimpressed to start with - just told her "oh dear! Get up then" but when she got up there was a pool of blood under her!! I was on my own So it was a completely terrifying and when I finally got a look at her mouth she had actually knocked her top front teeth back up a bit into her gums - which I found out afterwards is actually quite common - they will (and did) just decend again perfectly straight no issue at all. It's done now so try to calm down - your DD will be picking up on your stress and upset and it will be making her worse. Wrap her in a towl to keep her arms and legs in one place and get a look at the damage. Then you can decide what to do next.
