Weird high temperatures in toddler at night

Three times over the last month ds has woken up burning up in night with a high temperature. Within 5 minutes of giving Calpol his temperature is down and he is chatting away happily. Each time he hasn't been unwell goes back to sleep fine and them is fine again in morning. Just found them a little odd as he doesn't appear ill and it is occurring weeks apart and just wondered if anyone has experienced anything similar

No experience sorry but didn't want to read and run. Are u taking his temp with a thermometer before and after calpol or just using ur touch? 5 mins is awfully fast for calpol to take affect, have you tried not giving calpol and seeing if there's a change without it? I would probably make a gp appointment and inform them.

Thank you. It was probably more like 10/15 mins but he did have a big drink of water too so that may have helped. Have taken temp with thermometer and touch. I would try not giving Calpol but he has suffered from febrile convulsions in past so I like to get his temp down as quick as possible

How big a temperature? Could be over heating due to too many layers/room being warm. My DD is a hot bod at night. When I share a bed with her I always have to put extra layers on me.

About 38.7. Could have possibly have been that last night as I then stripped him down to a t-shirt for rest of night and he was fine then. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it happens again

If his temperature has already gone up then he is less likely to have a febrile convulsion so allow him the extra 10/15 mins to see if he settles and goes back to sleep
