DD12 - pre period signs

DD has been suffering cramping on and off for the past 6 weeks. TMI - she's also getting really sticky discharge and although there isn't signs of a period arriving, she's definitely getting a mucous type discharge. I've bought her the lightest pads that I can find. She hates it! Can someone advise me about this? Does it sound ok? Thank you.

I'm loathed to bump such a personal issue for my DD but this discharge is still around and it's getting to be the third month now. It's a yellow-green (?) sticky mucousy discharge with absolutely no sign of anything else.

Thinking about contacting the GP tomorrow if I can't get some sort of idea here on MN.

Thanks.

I think yellowgreen could suggest an infection maybe thrush which I think is common I girls that age. see a go.

Yeah sounds more like thrush or other infection to be honest.
Pop along to the GP or if she’s not keen you can buy the Canestem Canestest kit from supermarket/chemist - self diagnosing test kit you do at home to determine is thrush or BV. It is a swab though so may not be suitable.

I would make her up a period kit just so she is prepared for her first period...get regular pads, plus night time pads ...

you don't know how heavy or light her first period will be, some get light spotting, others get heavier flow (mine was somewhere in the middle)..so I'd recommend getting the regular to heavy flow pads and then it keeps her protected and she isn't having leaks while trying to get herself in a routine of changing pads etc...

Also get pantyliners too, she could wear them now to protect her underwear and they offer a bit of protection incase she suddenly starts her period without any warning

Yellowy green mucus sounds like she has some kind of gynaecological issue going on (maybe an infection or something else)...take her to a dr and get that seen to as soon as you can

Op here is an info graphic with the different colour discharges and their causes...if hers is green she really needs to see a dr
