nappy rash causes - allergies?

hi - my dd has had different types of nappy rash over the last few days - one day it was sore looking spots around her front and back, I was worried but they disappeared the next day.

Then i saw tiny tiny streaks of blood coming from the back, NOT inside but a tiny scratch outside - again the next day it was fine but very sore at the time.

Tonight shes come home from nursery and her whole bottom is completely red and she is shaking and crying if i try to touch her to change her - shes had her bath which helped but just now she did another dirty nappy and was crying uncontrollably -shes made herself fall asleep it was so bad.

i have to say shes only started having it since going to nursery and when i questioned it they said they hadn't noticed anything wrong.

Is it something shes eating maybe?
too much of something?

The nursery also put loads of sudacrem on - could this cause it?

any advice please help she's in a lot of pain and red in the face from crying :-(

thanks

Check the brand of baby wipes and nappies that the nursery uses. We took in mild own-brand wipes, as just one use of well-known branded ones gave DD horrendous rash.

If that doesn't fix it, I'd be worried that her nappy wasn't being changed often enough.

She has an average of 3-4 changes in a 10 hour day - is this normal for most?

Get a prescription cream to clear it, poor thing

Do nappy free time (I know I know)

Sit her in a shallow bath with bicarbonate dissolved in the water

Change nappy brand and wipes / send your own to nursery

Use metanium

Can you tell this is fresh in my mind?
Also FYI my girls both react v badly to sudocreme

Hope she is ok soon.

Are they using the same wipes, nappies and cream as you? Also, i use wet wipes which are er very wet compared to other wipes, so I have to dry dd's bum before putting the nappy on as that can give her a bit of nappy rash.

I think that our nursery was every 2 hours, plus (in theory) straight away after a poo.

If your daughter is sore I would expect her to be changed far more frequently than every 3 hours. Otherwise she'll be sitting in a wet nappy against her broken skin.

thank you everyone

The only terrible bout of nappy rash I've had (her whole bum was covered, a few bits weeping) was from pineapple. I had tried it with a little bit but DD liked it so I gave her 2 tablespoons.

If changing the wipes etc. fails, try and keep a food diary and see if it's certain foods that cause it.

Putting lots of sudacrem on could cause it- only supposed to put on a thi layer. Unless of course theyre putting on lots in the hope they ont have to change nappy as much
