Poor 3yo DS is struggling. He's had three shots of lactulose today and lots of water, but straining is just producing wind. I think we need to bring in the big guns tomorrow. But can I get them over the counter?

Not for children I don’t think, you need a smaller size.
A GP needs to assess, as constipation can be tricky in children. You need to make his stool softer, as hard stools can cause pain, which causes holding, which makes it worse. Keep going with the lactulose, lots of water and fruit juice, and ring the gp tomorrow

Some pharmacists won’t sell children’s ones unless they had previously been prescribed. You can however buy adult size and cut them in half.
